About Gabi

Gabriela Sevilla is no stranger to struggle. Growing up experiencing housing insecurity, she developed a passion for helping others navigate the significant barriers that arise without stable housing.

With an impressive resume for such a young woman, Gabi has worked as a tireless advocate for others, worked for a myriad of organizations, including the Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless, the Homeless Action Center, Howard University Fair Housing Clinic, Advocates for Justice and Education, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Quality Trust, Americorps, and the Children's Defense Fund. In her "spare time," she has also volunteered and provided pro bono work for organizations such as CASA Immigration Clinic, Orleans Public Defenders Office, Christian Legal Aid, the Homeless Children's Playtime Project, D.C. Sankofa Circle's "Feed the Hood" Project, Hurricane Maria Relief Fundraising Campaign.
Gabi graduated from Rutgers with a Bachelors in Public and Non-Profit Administration, earned her Immigration Law Certification from American University, and will graduate next month with her Juris Doctor from Howard University School of Law. During her law school tenure, she has presented at Yale's 2019 Rebellious Lawyering Conference, where she led a panel on Ending the Criminalization of Homelessness. She also served the boards of numerous school organizations, while working part time to support her mother and brother.
